P.S my neighbor has the same size & model so I'm not alone on this. I would look at anything besides a light pos 714. All it gets used for now is the real rocky corn ground & after peas are off. Seen several of them on auctions & dealers lots all welded up. I wanted too hang weights on the rear brackets & was told never do that cause the frame will crack. It will bounce so bad it would make the tractor start. The 714 in hard ground will come out & hop up & down like a bunny rabbit. I went from a Glencoe soil saver that never came out of the ground or bounced like a bunny rabbit to a 714. Maybe look for a stretch model Glencoe that would be newer than yours. Maybe spikes would work better for the JD. My 714 would ride up on hard packed end rows using 4 inch twisted. I would go to a JD 714-it has the Tru-Depth Standards with a point pressure of 1250 lbs before it springs back. The IHcase MRX690 disc chisel is a real well built machine I have also been looking at one to upgrade from my Landoll. Landoll has a nice heavy duty Chisel Plow. Pull it with our 8300 mfd rated around 240 hp. 4 inch twisted shovels, and run 7 to 9 inches in slightly rolling ground. Pull a 11 shank 714, with remlinger heavy drag behind it. It is about on it's last legs and want to update it has 4 inch twisted shovels and straight blades upfront but well worn what would be a good replacement in this size for a 235 hp tractor? I currently use a 13 shank Glencoe soil saver.
